Learning Dutch with podcast
I have been wondering for a long time how to learn Dutch on my own, since I already knew some basics of the language. I felt that I could speak better. Therefore, I looked for an interesting source of information about the Netherlands to improve my reading comprehension. The most important thing was an appropriate language level. Then I came across the podcast „Een Beetje Nederlands” and became interested immediately, not only because of the high-quality texts meant for foreigners but also due to the interesting and informative content. Thanks to the podcast, I found an answer not only to the question of how to learn Dutch, but also how to get to know the Netherlands and its culture.
Finding time to study
This is how my adventure with Dutch started again, even though nearly 10 years had passed. But this time, it was in a very different way—in a better way. Since I was on maternity leave, I was trying to juggle my passion for foreign languages with family life. So I decided to learn on my own, in my free time, using materials available on the internet. And most importantly, I enjoyed it! It’s always easier to find time for something you are passionate about. So if you asked me how to learn Dutch now, I would answer: by making a hobby out of it.
How to learn Dutch „by doing”
I listened to „Een Beetje Nederlands” for a few months. After that, I thought I could develop my skills faster. As a result, I started to write this blog. „Mum is learning Dutch” is a kind of learning by doing for me. It also gives me immense motivation to keep going.
I hope the blog will be useful for other people asking themselves how to learn Dutch. Or maybe it will inspire others to find their own way to learn.
